Exactly the same symptoms as mine, turned out to be UJ's. With the back end of the car up on stands the wheel would moove up and down. If you get someone to moove the wheel you should be able to see moovement in the joint. Hope this helps. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=172302&f=12&h=0

Wheel bearings (jacked up) push pull top and bottom of wheel and feel for movement..
UJ's - try to rotate / back & forwards driveshafts using the wheel whilst holding the drive shaft. You are looking for and free play in the UJ's.
Symptoms are similar to 'wheel bearing' above, but can also see drive shaft UJ's articulate as wheel is moved top at bottom.
