I am refurbing my plenum and thought i would take the opportunity to remove the hot spot underneath it. Question i have is do i just blank the two hoses off or do i have to connect them some were. I know this has been discussed but cannot find a definitive answer.

Hi Jon,

Don't know your engine but on the RV8 the plenum hot spot hoses when disconnected can be joined together so the coolant still flows. Or capped, but I don't know how or where this is done. When capped one hose is used as a bleed point, I do know that.

Someone will explain better regarding capping, as it's something that has been done a lot. Been thinking about doing it on my car.

My thinking was to connect from the block to the expansion tank to allow flow of coolant but i have seen a picture some body has done this job but they have blanked the hose from the expansion tank so confused.com

The 'heater' pipe runs from the heater panel and T's into the 'supply' pipe to the expansion tank. Disconnect the 'heater' pipe from the heater panel and the T. Throw away.

The pipe that goes to the heater panel from the engine (iirc the top of the water pump). Disconnect from the heater panel and connect into the [now open] T in the expansion tank pipe.

You may need a longer hose.

Alternatively, pull the two pipes off the heater panel and connect with a joiner piece.
