Tired electric windows

The electric windows on our 350i have become very tired, both sides drop like a stone, but very slow going back up , the passenger side gets to the top eventually the drivers side stops short any ideas on a fix welcome.

Silicon spray on the channel runners. Works like a treat. Drop the window and squirt as much as you can down the channel. Its now part of my annual service......

Slow windows are often due to the velvet being worn off the rubber channels. Silicone spray will help, but changing the channels and replacing any hard grease should cure.

Also pays to strip the switches down and clean the contacts as they are prone to corrosion. Mine were so bad it melted the connectors.

The below circuit will minimise volt-drops from switch to motor, more volts = faster motors

True, but the existing wiring should cope. A case in point is my 400SX, the passenger (lightly used) side is good, but the driver's side is slow. One must assume similar wiring specification (gauge etc).

I think most likely the motor commutator is crudded up, but it will take a few hours removing, stripping down, and replacing. Given that I am sitting next to the window and can "assist it" when going up, I just can't be bothered!

Thanks everyone, After a good squirt of silicone and cleaning the switches both windows are working well again.

Great news

If you were to wire in relays as shown they would eject out onto the road
