True, but the existing wiring should cope. A case in point is my 400SX, the passenger (lightly used) side is good, but the driver's side is slow. One must assume similar wiring specification (gauge etc).
I think most likely the motor commutator is crudded up, but it will take a few hours removing, stripping down, and replacing. Given that I am sitting next to the window and can "assist it" when going up, I just can't be bothered!
