TVR 450 SEAC - MOT pass!

Here you go. A few photos after a quick blast down the local lanes. From 10m you cant see the totally blistered paintwork......
Two issues to resolve though - more worrying is the gearbox synchro crunch. I changed the remote bushes but no difference. With a slow change then no issues. If I try a more spirited change up or down then 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear crunch a little. Going to try a gearbox flush later in the week and put back some old fashioned thicker gear oil, rather than the expensive super thin stuff that went into the box the other week. Other issue is wear on offside rear hub. At some point the outer bearing race has slipped, causing some wear on the mating face. There's a slight bit of movement even with a new bearing. So it's either a replacement hub or get the hub buttered up with weld and then re-machined. I've spoken to Neil Garner and this is something they have done several times in the past.

Congrats. Big well done.
I believe thin oils - ATF are the way to go with the LT77 box.
One thing you might want to check is the clutch lever arm fulcrum point is not giving way.
You can get a 8mm bore scope for iphone / android for £5 these days, very useful to see into the places
that normally remain hidden.

Thanks Alan. yes I've order a gallon of Dextron 2 ATF to see if it makes any difference. For £20 it's as cheap as chips for a trial. Although I'd drained the old oil and refilled with the Difflock Evo 1, I didn't actually flush the box, which in hindsight I should have done so I'll give it a 50% white spirit/50% ATF flush just to ensure there's no crap in it.
Good point on the camera thingy. For a few quid I'll order one up and have a noisy at the clutch mechanism also.
Cheers
Keith

Right, update. I've stuck the shiny new bore scope into the bellhousing and watched the clutch fulcrum work all okay so it's not that. The thrust bearing looks almost new with no obvious wear on the contact face. Oil now changed for old fashioned Dexron 2 ATF and it's made no difference whatsoever. If I double de-clutch then no noise. If I keep the revs down below 3,500rpm and change slowly also no crunch. Anything remotely spirited, up and down the box and there's a slight crunch. The higher the revs at the change point, the more it crunches, so if I blip the throttle for a down change the box doesn't like that one bit. I'll see if I can live with it for the time being but obviously a job for the future. Hey ho.
