Hi,

Firstly this is my first time posting here, having recently becoming a TVR owner. There are many interesting posts to be read through. However my problem...

My idle screw appears to be very loose down in the bottom of the casting hole.
There is no resistance when turning with a screwdriver, and wiggles from side to side when viewing down in the hole. It seems as though it has been screwed all the way in and out of the bottom, is this possible?
Would this be a possible air leak area, does it require an "O" ring of some form.
Before I dig into this and start taking things apart to investigate, are there any thoughts around this, any would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi, I've had three flapper Wedges and two had this issue, in fact the idle screw used to wind itself down over time just with gravity. I put a smear of silicon sealer on top of it, just to ensure it sealed and didn't move. A quick dig with a small screwdriver and the silicon plug can be popped out when needed.

Hi,
Many thanks for the reply. Can you please advise how you retrieved the adjuster.
Is it a strip down.

Regards

Hi,

Managed to unscrew the idle screw, it is very loose in the casting. I will now attempt to correct warm idle speed and seal as suggested.

Many thanks

Do you mean the idle screw (it's a screw stopping the throttle from shutting fully) or the mixture adjuster on the AFM (which is in a hole in the casting?)

Hi Adam,

All sorted now, thanks. I seemed as though the idle adjuster had wound down had run out of thread. I manage to re-engage it using an endiscope magnet and wind back to get the tickover correct. I have added another screw, to screw down on top to lock the adjuster off (hopefully this will stop it self winding in killing the tickover).
Most of my problems have been the usual crusty wiring, that I keep reading about.
Car is or seems to be running well now apart from the other exhaust thread.

I am sure that other things will pop up as seems the case reading on here. I do like to try and read contributors responses such as yourselfs befor asking, when possible.

Many thanks
