Distributor parts wanted..
Discussion
Hi guys,
been trying to locate a pair of replacement mechanical advance springs for a 35DLM8 distributor fitted to an '87 350i..
So far..
Lucas... nope
Rimmers... nope
RPI... nope
TVR Car Parts... awaiting call back
Any one got any more bright ideas?
Is it a TVR myth that these springs were one of the few parts changed by the factory back in 1987 in what otherwise was a "standard" Rover Vitesse engine?
I took the distributor apart to free up the vacuum advance and noticed that one of the springs in the mechanical advance was sprained, therefore I would like to replace if possible.
Regards,
Brian (and a Red 350i)

They come up on eBay quite regularly, I picked up a spare one recently for £80. I think they come in different spring stiffnesses, so you need the *right* spring not just any DLM8, generally if you change dizzy I think you would move the ignition advance bits over from the old one.
Can you measure the spring rate of the existing ones?
If you can't match them from anywhere else, one option would be to get new ones made, but obviously you would need to know the spec.
