Wedge VS Capri article

Was wondering idly which was faster, the Capri 2.8 Super Injection or our very own Tasmin 280i, as they both had the same engine. I assume the 280i because of weight - but in general it would be interesting to see how they stacked up in real life.

It appears that magazine in Spain had the same question and got one of each and wrote and article on it. Unfortunately I can't track the article down beyond this page: https://www.todocoleccion.net/revistas-coches/moto...

I'm sure the answer was that the TVR was much better and faster, so no need to read

I remember someone back in the day had a 3.0 Capri with a supercharger down near Southampton somewhere, asked what would happen if he had an accident "well, just unbolt the supercharger"... Assuming he wasn't in hospital as a result, that is ;^)

Less than 100kg in kerb weight difference (actual, not TVR figures!) between the two - doubt there was a great deal in it. Moderately faster to 60, but top end more or less the same, I should have thought.

As you say, the reality is probably not as simple as it looks - especially as I remember reading that they had some trouble extracting the full potential of the engine in the 280i (at least initially). I'm interested in how the handling and drive stack up though.
I still am surprised when I look at prices for Capri's compared to 280i's - but as many people have said, it's not the rarity that defines price, I guess it was just a European Icon
