Leaving car parked on the street/battery question

Whichever wedge I decide buy will have to be left out on the street (won't be able to run a mains cable to it so a conditioner is out of the question).

Seeing as I won't be using the car to commute, will it be ok to say take the car for a run once a week to stop the battery running down?

It's never has a flat battery - GUARANTEED! (seriously)

A standardard wedge shouldn't drain a battery, although most do.
It is possible to make one hold it's charge.
The best place to start is removing any aftermarket alarms, immobilisers and amplfier type stuff, then if you need to put them back in, get someone to do it properly. It's worked on all my previous TVRs.

Alternatively you could buy one of those jump starter packs.
Very handy, but they do weigh a ton.

Mine was quite happy for around 3 weeks with a bosch silver battery. Alam and imobiliser etc on. After two weeks and I would be wondering if there was enough oomph to spin it a few times to catch.

It'll be OK.

You will find that even if you leave it for two weeks or so it will start fine - unless the battery is poor or low to start with.

I've left mine for months at a time without a problem.

My top tip is to bin the original battery, regardless of condition and then buy the biggest heavyest duty battery that will fit in the battery box.
Now buy a Gunsons starter charger and a long enough extension lead to reach the car from the house (50m). In the unlikely event of a low battery you can now clip on the charger leave it for ten minutes and then crank her up.
I've done this with every car I've had and never had a problem. My old (and rusty)X/19 started on the button after being left for over three months!

The solar chargers sound like a good idea but I have no experience of them.
I'd worry about some scumbag breaking in to nick the charger on display!

This is a real non issue. Get yer cash out and buy a wedge before summers gone

My wedge is not garaged. A good quality heavy duty battery is definitely the way to go. No problems starting in any weather for the past two years.

I would also highly recommend the LT hood cover - excellent quality, keeps the hood in good condition, helps keep the car interior dry and keeps out those prying eyes.

Think I'll see how I get on first with normal use.

If I get any probs I'll get a heavy duty battery and maybe a portable jump starter ( I've seen them on ebay for less than thirty quid ).
