AFM Cover

Has anybody got a plastic cover from the top of a 350 AFM, they'd be willing to flog me. Mine must be somewhere between Aston Tirrold and Milton Keynes, probably in a million pieces by now. I'll be at BBWF and can collect an pay there.

When you do get one - don't forget a bit of silicon sealant around it to stop airleaks and loosing it

Now there's a thought! Does air leak into the inlet system through this cover? If so, does it leak, upstream or downstream of the metering system? In other words, if there is a leak will it make the injection weaker? I ask because this has been a 'removable item' since I've had the car, and it could go some way to explaining a relatively weak idle.

If there was a leak at all, it would be past the spindle bearings that the flap pivots on. The bearings are sealed types but even so a microscopic amount could get past... probably not enough to account for your problem

I do have a spare top if you have no luck elsewhere. Is it the standard size or the larger Jag unit?

Ian, thanks for the info. I suspected it wouldn't be a significant leak. It's the bog standard unit, as far as I'm aware. I'll be pleased to free up some space in in your garage, if you'll bring it to BBWF. Many thanks.
