Thinking how to get the air filter assembly repaired. Last drive nearly lost the filter (K&N) and all the stuff required to mount it to the AFM. All parts still there, as luckily the first dropped just entering the driveway at home! The thread of the four studs at the flapper AFM-side most have been overthightend in the past. And checking and thighting on a regular basis, it now can just let go within 20 miles drive there after. Considering to make new studs out of threaded rod bought at the DIY-shop, and make sure it stays in place at the AFM-side with lock-tight blue.

Anybody any experience with such a repair? Do you consider it to be the right solution? Any risks of damaging the AFM in the process, etc.?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Sounds like a safety line would be handy too, as per F1 wheels.

No, my cars aren't held together with string.

Some parts are currently held by string, how did you guess!

I have used threaded rod as you describe, when I fitted the Jaguar AFM to my car. I used the old air filter but had to make new rods and plates to fix it to the AFM.
I used Nyloc locking nuts as well.

Seems like I have all the parts, except that I need to buy more string....
Need to fix the filter before the next time to have take the TVR for a spin, but working at work and on the old house instead for the moment. Hope to get it fixed next weekend as I feel redrawal symptoms coming up.
