That is the earliest Wedge that I know of (needs outriggers).

Mine is Chassis 10, and the same colour.

Interestingly, it was originally a factory car, not registered until '81.
Mine wasn't registered until '83.

That car hasnt escaped me, its just down the road too, the Tasmin racer stuff is from Gary's mishap at Cadwell btw, he's ok but his wallet is in intensive care at the mo after taking a bit of a kicking.

For anyone with a series one Wedge, the 24 valve conversion has to be an attractive proposition.

I'm hoping someone will be bringing such a car to BBWF,
just so we can have a look and a listen.

I don't think I can afford the racing spec parts, having looked at the starting prices.

You need a whole bug-eyed scorpio to do it though, its a fair old job, not just a plug and play, needs the EFI wiring in (easy enough with patience), and custom exhaust manifolds

Nooooo you dont want the bug-eyed scorpio, thats the BOB version of the engine. you need the earlier BOA from the Granarda scorpio.

The conversion into a road car isnt that bad, although the exhaust is the tricky bit.

getting the loom from the granny is erm interesting...


I dont think that ex racer exhaust would fit a road car.

they also used a different gear box.

you can do the conversion with standard engine mounts and the type 9 gearbox...

A lot of the cost on the stuff they are selling was labour!! which is going to cost if you get a proffessional outfit to do it, and obviously not if you do it yourself

From memory the manifold have to come forward to clear the chassis, the 2.9 engines have 3 not 2 exhaust ports which causes the trouble.
