Windscreen Removal

Anyone know how to get the windscreen out. My guess is to use some heat to liven up the bonding before lifting out the glass.

There's no way to avoid doing it because the paint on the inside has come away plus my retrim will be in a different colour to what's on the dash.

According to Steve Heath's book, you cut the glass out with a knife being exceptionally careful not to damage the interior. Also make sure the edge of the new windscreen is covered with some sealant.

I don't think heat will help much.
From outside - pull off the rubber trim strips and cut round the screen with a a knife at least the depth of the glass
This leaves a quite narrow strip of bonding holding the screen to the surround which has to be attacked from inside - this is the delicate bit if the trim is not being changed.
Careful with the knife going round the screen easy to chip the edge which will become a crack later.

Interesting how weak the screen surround is without the glass.

Roger that guys...I'll try that. The trim won't be a problem and there's a crack in the glass already so I'll give it a try.

Another way is to use cheese wire and slice through the adhesive. ( But it needs 2 people ) One working outside and keeping up with the person inside. Quite tricky to start with but works.
