valve to distributor

Just a quick one...

the valve between plenum and distributor anybody have an idea of the function?? and were it is from??

The orange site must be at the distr. side and the black at the plenum side but if you suck at the black (plenum side) it is blocked is this correct??

It is a vacuum delay valve, the purpose is to introduce a delay before the vac advance comes in, so that it doesn't come in during the transient vacuum that occurs when you open the throttle suddenly from idle. If in doubt take it out and just use a plain pipe. The valves can get blocked or fail, or even be fitted back to front, and when this happens it causes havoc with the ignition timing.

If you suck from the end at the manifold it will seem blocked as the disty end is sealed. It has a diaphragm that when you suck will pull a lever that advances the ignition.

If the engine does not respnd well to 'hoofing' the throttle it could be this at fault. A good test is to hoof the throttle whilst at the same time sucking on the pipe like Monica Lewinsky trying to start a leaf-blower from the business end
