SEAC sold/bought

I am delighted to announce that following Stainless- Steve and Wedgegirl's advice I went out and bought a SEAC! Big thanks to GavinR and his Dad for getting the Beast sorted - The journey home on the M25 was something else. I promise to look after her and look forward to BBWF 2006!!

Is the seac that much better than the 400se or 390se ; according to the performance figures , seac is 4.8 secs and 400 , 390 is 5.1/5.3 depending on which figures you read/believe . Does anyone know the perforance figures and also maybe each wedge varies due to slight technical variations/age/condition. Answers please !

Cafolio give 4.9 for the 390SE, and I choose to believe them of course.
Naturally mine has the full 275bhp.

Anyway, it's BLOODY QUICK !

It will be difficult to tell. The Fast Lane 390SE road test car had a solid lifter 4.2 engine in it......

I drove Patrick's SEAC round the car park at the BBWF and it threatened to throw me into orbit as soon as I touched the throttle... my 390 has the throttle response of the Mallard in comparison.

I as driven round by Patrick as you probably saw , his seac is very loud , scary in fact but I wold like to be in one on a by-pass with no yellow boxes etc to give a clear verdict ,preferably with someones 390/400 giving chase .Where is the nearest seac to Leics area?

We still have't had the official/near as damit/accurate figures for 390 ,400 comparison with 420/450 seac , do they exist or not !

Between the gears times even more interesting IMO.

There seems to be very little on the net.

I love reading old road test reports (like Autocar/Motor etc), but even they seem to be hard to access.
My local library used to keep them for years, and you could go and salivate over them for hours, in a small darkened room.

I've got pretty well all the old 'Car' magazines back to 1980 thanks to my younger brother's collection which he left here when he left for USA last year, includes all wedges , I was thinking of bringng them to the bbwf but they might have got wet ! Says 390 will do 5.1 or 5.0 if pushing , thats standard car of course and seac 420 is 5.0 , can't find anything on seac 450 yet, maybe thats the 4.8 figure sometimes quoted. Anyway the writeups on all the wedges are very complimentry- chasis exellent ,good in wet ! '390 asails you with raw power ' ,engine explodes into life with hollow vroom'.Not all motoring mags were so nice about the wedges , Motor gave a slightly 'unconvinced' writeup , but thats journalism for you!
