Has anyone simply wired them to a switch/s on the dash?
I'm having issues with the pop up function and thinking for how often I will use the lights I could put two switches on the dash and just set the position manually with them as desired.
Is this a bad idea?

Is the pektron relay for the headlights as it doesn't test/click like the others?

Just realised flashing the lights will be a bit of a problem!
Also you can't actually see them in the down position
From inside the car.
Is there any aftermarket kits to manage the lights got to love 40 year old tvr electrics eh.
Thanks in advance for listening to my rambling thoughts.

Just plugged the lights in and I have main beam only could this be related to the red pektrum relay?

I may be wrong, I was under impression that the Pektron unit is fuel pump related?
It is just a series of Diodes, bit more on it here:

TVR? Ha earthing problems! Tell me about them. Have you tried running a temporary earth wire to the motors?

The Pektron relay is for the fuel injection, and gas nothing to do with lights. The headlamps have four separate relays to control them. Try swapping them out one at a time. Also the light switch gets dirty and doesn't function properly. Finally lamp pod earth's might be crusty. Just work it through systematically.

Ian, hi. You haven't said what your issue is with the lights....
I am not aware of any aftermarket replacement so I would say your best option is to repair what you have.
If the motors are moving but don't stay up/down then it may be the switches in the pod motors. I had all
sorts of issues with the lights when I bought my car 35 years ago. I took out the motors and cleaned everything
up. Sealed the side cover to make sure no water could get in. Greased up the linkages and I haven't had any
issues since.

Steve

Sadly the light pods are in the worst place they could be and are hardly ever used, definitely clean up all earths on the N/S suspension turret, if V8 then there are also two on the rear of the N/S rocker cover, also there are diodes somewhere on the relay or fuse board that might be failing, some electical lube on the connectors, making sure you do not mix the plugs up...(Like i did once and caused some headfunken) and a greasing of the mechanism is a good move smile

Cheers smile
