280i cable clutch to hydraulic conversion kit type 9
Discussion
Hi
So after much faffing, measuring and fitting we now have a kit that will convert your 280i from cable clutch to hydraulic, if you have been lucky enough to have not snapped a cable then you are in a minority i would imagine, i use to snap at least 2 a year, @£60 each and then having to remove the oil filter at the roadside is no fun what-so-ever and especially not knowing when or where its going to snap!
This kit will fit the Type 9 4 or 5 speed gearbox, the only criteria to check is that you have the early pedal box which features the machined opening for the master cylinder where the cable comes in to the cabin and that you have the cable slotted clutch fork....thats it!
The kit comprises of:
Master cylinder with built on resorvoiir
Slave cylinder
2 modified push rods
Slave to gearbox mounting bracket
Flexi pipe
Machined adjustable clutch fork stop
Fixing bolts with nuts and washers
Fitting instructions
The fitting requires the oil filter and driver side downpipe to be removed or you WILL struggle to fit it.
I have gone from a 280i owenr who was scared to drive anywhere due to this potential snapping to one that has been (lately) driving all day for no reason but to just drive with confidence..if you weigh up the previous cost, i:e 2 x cables per year are £120 coupled with the major faff of removing the filter at the roadside...as opposed to trouble-free peace of mind driving..it will cost you including P&P within the UK...280 sobs for your 280i....a 60% deposit will be needed and we need a batch minimum of 5 to make it as affordable as it is...please note we are using favours to keep the costs down.
I hope i am not breaking any forum rules as we are trying to offer a major fix for a problem that inhibits the enjoyment of TVR ownership.
Please email me or put your name up if interested...my old email is broken so please use this one: bbwf25@hotmail.com
Many thanks
