Sounds like a case of buy in haste, repent at leisure. Well written ad, and strange damage, but I'm puzzled about the fact that as soon as the current seller took delivery, the clutch slave failed, and it wouldn't start, then later he's talking about it squatting under power and drinking fuel.

How about we go halves on it, I'll have it the summer months you can have it in the winter???
Seriously though I've got room in my garage I'm sure we can come to some arrangement!!! Nice winter project, talk more about it on Friday.

a common problem, not too bad to fix

Yes, I think that a lot of this needs to be taken with a pinch of salt however for maybe £3,000 it could be a very good buy for someone if it is generally as described.

If the chassis is sound, it may be a good buy.

I'd check the car over very carefully first though, since it doesn't appear to have an MOT.

The 400 was sold by universal salvage recently and from memory it maybe cat c recorded?
I saw pictures of the car previously and always wondered whether it had been swimming? Make sure you check electrics. I do have speedo and gauges if anyone buys it.

I am a honoured citizen from the beautifull country called Nigeria ! And yes we like to buy TVR's !!
TVR's are very popular over here although most of them have serious heating problems. So, I am very interested in this Scottish 400SE for my mother in Law a few villages away from here ! Is it possible to ship the car to Nigeria and as soon the car arrived over here, I will pay the full asking price with 15% on top of that !!! Yes , I am a good man and my father was the King of Kenia .....and Zimbabwe....I think!!!

Sincerely
The Long Kenian

In that case: get her some other gift.
My suggestion would be:

I was looking for a 400se for my girlfriend. But she kept complaining that TVR's don't have safety features like airbags, but i can't see her point........

Also, the long kenian called me to ask how fast tvr's are as he got cought last week....
