HAS ANYONE IN THE MIDLANDS HAD THEIR WEDGE STOLEN RECENTLY?

I have an advert in the local free ads paper for various wedge bits. I have just had a phone call from someone offering to sell me a complete wedge for the mere sum of £400. When I asked what was wrong with it? - I was told "it has just been stolen"!!

The caller withheld their number but my phone also rang a split second earlier but the caller hung up - they didn't withhold their number this first time and I still have it.

Can anyone post this on the official TVR site please as I am not a member and obviously don't have access.

Were you selling or wanting to buy parts? surely they are not stealing to order!

My advert is in the wanted section (owners handbook and steering wheel wanted)

Stealing to order is possiable, but I would doubt with wedges as they as so few and far between. Who knows?

Or pose as BT asking to verify address details then raid him ... actually would make it easier for the BIB if they had an address. Otherwise it'd be sold off before they took any action

Although they did send a soco round to finger print the chim after the radio was knicked, but the guy did admit it was only because he wanted to have a look at the car !!!

BIB not interested!!! unless I have hard evidence of a stolen car and a location, there is nothing they can do
Don't know why I bothered wasting a phone call.
I haven't checked if my wedge is in the garage today...

Its all a bit strange, you would think that somebody on here would know whos car, where, when etc. Someone is lacking a Wedge and you would think they would be jumping up and down and making a load of noise about it. (Maybe it aint a Wedge, maybe a mint,low miles TR7 with full T & T, in which case its VERY EXPENSIVE) The other things to consider are it could have come from anywhere, it could have been in long term store somewhere, If you have his number maybe you should arrange to go and see it with a few fellow Wedgers. I will come if thats any help.

Yes Rev I agree, theft of a Wedge to us is on par with mass murder and cruelty to small furry things, but to TBIB unless it was stolen AND speeding its not worth a second look, after all it is cold outside.

Person on end of line said - it's OK I've got a gun : I'll sort it out and hang up.

Police got there double quick and found the owner did not have a gun ..

But they got there quick because of it..

Poss a con - I turn up with £400 with intentions to buy a "hot" wedge (which turns out not to exist), someone cracks me over the head, knocks me out cold and legs off with the £400. Easy money!
