fast tickover, Control valve problem??
Discussion
Hi All, the tickover on my 400se keeps going up to 2k plus, if you turn the ignition off and restart it will go down to around the 1000rpm mark.
I have set the tickover with the control valve blanked off, as i believe you should so this is the lowest it will drop, before i go and splash out on a replacement has anyone else had this trouble??

My hot wire, similar problem, but I did two things at the same time so not sure which was the cure. Cleaned and PTFE tape on the threads of the stepper motor. Adjusted (very carefully) the contacts in the airflow meter cable connector as they were very loose making with the airflow meter. They looked the type to snap so again, very carefully. I suspect the connectors was the fix as I could feel no resistance to the connector when pushing it home.
I isolated the stepper motor by blanking the pipe and pulling the plug out of the back, this improved the tickover consistancey (once warm), will have a look at the pins on the airflow meter too.
Where is the best place to get a stepper motor and what do they cost?
If it is too much it will cure my dilema of whether too fit emerald ignition.
