Getting a heavy petrol/oil smell eminanting from the garage.
Wife very unhappy about the awsome petrolhead aroma now starting to spread from the Garage.

Any help appreciated as to where to start !

No obvious signs of a leak on the floor, other than a spot or two of oil from the sump.

suffer a similar problem if I fill the tank so have take to only 3/4 filling it. No this is not much help but have not had time to investigate it yet as temporary solution working

Could be a number of things: If you have the patience to fill the tanks right up, heat from the exhaust which runs directly under the n/s tank can expand the liquid with the result that the surplus gets dumped out of the overflow behind the n/s wheel; the swirl pot can corrode and is mounted close to a chassis tube so can chafe through; the upper and lower joints linking the tanks can leak (my upper has); and the usual loose/corroded hose clips, worn out rubber hoses, especially those with bends...........

Perrished pipe to the fuel rail - give em a wiggle but be careful, I had an eyeful when I found my leak

Also check the fuel pipes / clips at the back of car (drivers side)
both high and low pressure hoses are now of an age that they start to perish.

Also check for a telltale weep from the fuel sender unit on the tank. It's on the driver side in front of the axle and you will need the car on axle stands. It is literally between the two petrol tanks.. you will need a good torch of leed light.
