reversing lights

Before I start the crawl under the car at Christmas can anyone tell me where the reversing light switch on an 89 350i is. Need to adjusting / tightening up as lights only come on when gear lever moved.
Any pictures of the gear box would also be good.

Don't crawl under the car at all, it's on the shift remote!

Thanks good pictures. Now to try and explain to the wife that her small hands will reach it easier and doing this small job will get me out out of the garage when her mother comes.

Yeah you can get at the switch from the top, have to take the gaiter off.

However you might find the reason for the malfunction is that the remote extension has become a bit floppy, becuase the bushes have started to disintegrate.

Those pics were for a Landy, dunno if they are too useful really.

Mine do not work. Until the its an MOT item, they are staying that way.

Yeah had a go at mine on the 350 b4 I sold it could not get em right so disconnected em.

All very well for you lot with modern cars ! What is the part no for the reversing switch on a 280i 4 speed box? And, yes , it IS under the car! Happy Christmas.

Blue, in the mean time, use the rear fog lamps when reversing in the dark. That's what I used to do to back into the garage when mine was dodgy.

mine didnt used to work....

had the gearbox replaced along with various ancillaries, sparky mate cleaned up rear light panel (had all green stuff on it), replaced various switches - all of that to fix other problems but somewhere along the line the reversing lights started working again :lol:
