O ring injectors / manifold

Does anyone know whether there are any differences between the flapper and hotwire inlet manifolds, specifically the dimensions of the stepped circular recesses into which the injectors fit:
I'm in the process of swapping injectors, and although I don't yet have a hotwire fuel rail, I thought I'd trial fit one of the O ring type injectors into the manifold. It doesn't seem to project into the port as deeply as the hose type, although I've not been too forceful yet, so I wondered if there are any machining differences?

I wondered when someone else would try it
You can get the O-rings to fit the standard manifold recesses: lubricate the O-rings with silicon grease and apply pressure to the injector whilst wiggling it in circles: you'll feel the O-ring slip into place and the injector will then sit lower in its port.
Works fine on my car...

I tried it with a little machine oil, so I'll give it another go. But does that mean that there are machining differences- I haven't got access to a later manifold at the moment?

I wouldn't think there'd be much in it: the O-rings need to be a snug fit to seal anyway, so you couldn't take much metal off.
I used injectors with O-rings top and bottom, but modified the tops to take short lengths of hose so I could retain the 'old' fuel rail.
