Great Start to the Year

After refusing to start yesterday, I managed to get the Wedge started this evening - a fully charged battery kicked it over enough to fire up after the cold spell.
So I decided to take it for a blat to clear the cobwebs away. Got as far as the end of my cul-de-sac before deciding the clutch didn't feel right. Within a couple of miles it became obvious the clutch was clearing right at the bottom of its travel - I managed to limp the car home in fourth with the clutch completely u/s.
So is mine the first Wedge breakdown of 2006?
Too cold & dark to start investigating now. I'll just have another few glasses of this nice Merlot and worry about it tomorrow

The clutch was not working on my 400 when i got it. The master cylinder is the same casting and seals as landrover, but the fitting is a differant size, also the bore slightly bigger, but the front seal the same, this seal prevents the pressure going back into the reservior. i used the front seal out of that to fix it, cost me £18. You could use the whole thing, but you would have to adapt the fitting and the pedal may be slightly harder.

Mike - I did hope the fix would be as simple as you suggested. I checked this morning and indeed the fluid is right at the bottom of the reservoir and the system is sucking in air as the pedal is depressed - the fluid returns as the pedal is released, so hopefully the system is sound.
Is the fluid level supposed to be right at the top of the reservoir? If so, I think my fluid level's always been low since I got the car

I've liberated a bottle of fluid from work so I'll try it tonight. I'll report back later!

On the outside of the reservoir you can see a mark.
About 1 centimeter below the top.
And yes I have currently the same problem, and fixing it outside (under the current circumstances) has not happend yet.
Thought the revision parts are the same as for Rover SD1, and got those. So will the Girling numbers be same? It will be the first test to see if Murphy is still hanging around in 2006....
