Whilst I am sitting here at work getting bored I though I'd spend some time sorting out the last few bits of the power steering upgrade. Engine is out, Rack should be fitted tomorrow and I'll be on with the chassis mods. The pump requires a custom bracket, as the standard Cosworth item fouls the Chassis brace (the same one that causes the problem with the rack but on the other side of the car). I didn't really want to chop them both out so went with the custom bracket. I need to get some custom hoses made and I have noticed that on some cars there is a loop of steel hose between the pump and the rack to cool the fluid. Does anyone have this on their Wedge? Is it necessary? Cheers Steve

As well as the two flexible hoses on my pas 400, there is a metal pipe connecting one end of the rack to the other, and a shorter metal pipe on the o/s connecting between two points at that end of the rack. No idea what pupose they serve though.

Steve/7, thanks for the replies.
Steve, as you don't have the cooling loop I'll assume that it's not necessary. It's unlikely my car will ever be driven like yours!! As a matter of interest what pipes do you use? Are they standard rubber ones or do you use some of the aeroquip or equivalents?

Does anyone know if the pump pulley diameter is different on the 350i fitted with the ford rack as opposed to the other types of rack? I have a ford rack, pump and brackets, but no pulley - is it standard SD1 ?
