Radiator Refitting!
Discussion
I'm in the final stages of rebuilding most of my 400SE and have removed the radiator to fix the leaking thermostat. I need some advice as to the best way of refitting this pile of bits.
I've looked in the SH bible and it's no way like what i'm trying to shove into a minute hole!
How do you wrestle with the oil cooler, rad shroud with fan and then the bl**dy great chunk of radiator with the side mounting plates....
I've done a search, but its not shown much.
Thanks
Rick
ps Is there any places left at the hotel for BBWF?

The car is on axle stands 2 ft in the air, i've removed the lower lip and lowered it out underneath. I had to remove all the bolts from the fan shroud, remove the bolts from the oil cooler and then the rad side plates. It's just i need the best sequence to put it back - when youre trying to do it all yourself you need 6ft rubber arms!!

"leaking thermostat".... Otter switch you mean? Had mine sealed up and fitted an in line controller. Made it easier to refit as well. I did it, one side jacked up a good deal and bonnet off. Lay the oil cooler on the floor, insert rad, one end first and offer up to the brackets. Bolt in. I did not remove the bib. Then fitted the rad cowl but only with the bolts not needed for the cooler as well then fitted then slipped the cooler on and bolted up. It is a bit of a faf. But you end up making yoga look easy. Copper greased the lot as well.
Yes Jeff - you're right, its the otter switch. I'll try your route to re-assembly and after cleaning everything up, it looks a lot better and should be an easier job than getting it out. I will replace all the bolts and copper grease as a matter of course.
Thanks for all the help and advice - should be able to get down to the BBWF without overheating now!!

ed the oil cooler in the bin, more pipes to leak and burst. Griffiths dont have them either.
