Wedge body weight

Hello does any one know the approx weight of a series one drop head body shell,theres no interior or dash,i want to lift it off using a block and tackle suspended from a supported beam in my garage,don't fancy lifting it manually.Has any one carried out this excersise,any tips would be appreciated,cheers.

I don't specifically know the weight but they can just about be lifted with 2 people.
Based on this, I would GUESS (and this only a guess) that the shell itself would weigh about 200-250kg?

The early ones are a fair bit heavier. Thicker fibreglass weighs a lot more!

Don't try it on a 3x2 garage roof beam! fit a steel beam and supports first.

Lifted my body off last year, its the initial crack to get it unstuck, i used a 4 point hydrualic ramp, an it aint light after that!

Lifted mine (280 2+2) with a makeshift A-frame using scaffold poles and a 2 ton chain hoist attached to the body with carefully placed rope ...... easy peasy and only me with my two boys to keep a look out for any problems. Got the body sitting on some home made wooden trestles allowing access to the chassis that is stored beneath it. All done in one side of a double garage.

Thanks for the information,i am going to use a 4 x4 inch wooden beam supported on a brick pillar at one side and a 4 x 6 solid oak beam on the other plus a 2 ton chain block.
