Split Rim OZ Wheels Nuts

Hiyah..... jumped over from the Griff forum to pick your brains / knowledge / opinions on the OZ wheels nuts, as our boys (n girls) are really up on this

I'm looking at getting my wheels refurbed, and there are a few companies that are refurbing the wheels and chroming the nuts, yet i have seen threads where the nuts are totally replaced with new ones.

what is the view on chroming nuts with regard to durability of finish, and on replacing the old nuts

by nuts I mean the little ones holding the rim on..... nut the ones holding the wheel on

Hello Hoover - you may well have all your answers by now - but I could,nt resist the oppurtunity to stick my oar in: I refurbed my OZ wheels recently - I did most of the work myself with basic tools including a rudimentary polishing kit from e-bay, excluding the blasting and coating of the centre sections, and if I say so myself thy've come out smashing - they really set the car off. I bought new bolts and new nuts from a chap who gets on here, from Holland. Now assuming your wheels are the same as mine you'll have 30 per wheel to consider. Assuming the nuts and bolts you have are original OZ then they will have a ten point head which conventional sockets will not remove, (hex or bi-hex is the norm). Assuming you have the special tools to remove them all without buggering any of them up, you will be starting with stressed and dog eared old stock items. If you are prepared to sacrifice the existing OZ bolts the replacement bolts have bi-hex heads and therefore go back on with conventional sockets and do the job perfectly - the wheels look expensive top marque once more.

Done some research...... and took a plummit for exchanging my tatty wheels for some shiny new refurbed ones from here www.pxwheels.com/ no idea how he does it for so little, all the quotes I got from elsewhere were circa £500+, + the inconvience of no wheels on the car .... The pics and reviews I have heard have been A1 ... just waiting for mine to be delivered, rummble down to localish tyre fitter, swap tyres over... send back my tatty old ones.

All very simple...

I'll post pics when I recieve them so others can have a look at the finish.....
