Hi,

I've been slack and still not got my speedo cable sorted. Can anyone tell me the answer to the following a)is it a cable or transponder? b)what length is the cable? c)Is it a speedy cable job?

I cant tell you the length at the moment as the only one I have is on my car (86 350i). I could try to measure it tomorrow. I know that mine is hugely over length though. The inner cable end that goes into the gearbox has been "squared" to fit into the drive. I can tell you that it is a proper cable though (spinning thing in a tube, not a transponder).

Heres one for sale:-

Just check you have VDU gauges.

Mechanical on the older (pre-400?) wedges.
With a search you will find a lot of info as posted before.
Attachement to the box, if mechanical is one bolt and a clamp. Inside is a wheel that gives you the proper ratio. Gear is made out of plastic if my memory serves me right, and could be 'worn'. Although wearing/breaking is not common. More common is that the cable fries and locks up within the outer cable. Probably a speedycable job then as it is a TVR special. And fitting a cable (just inner or both) is most difficult at the speedometer.
If you need something urgent, probably tvrcarparts can help you or give you an estimate in time to get a replacement.
