It failed the MOT!
Discussion
Took the wedge for it's MOT yesterday. Thought the newly installed PAS seemed a little twitchy on the way but assumed it must be the tracking being way out as it hadn't been set since the installation of the new rack.
Anyway, they failed it, "PAS malfunctioning" and "excessive play on input shaft to rack".
So now I have to take the bl**dy thing off and send it back to the cowboys who claim to have reconditioned it. Looks like I won't be back on the road for a while

Who did the job?
Assuming you mean the conversion job rather than the recon job, it was me!!!
Funnily enough I did think the input shaft seemed to have more play than the one I took off but for some reason I cannot now fathom I assumed it must be ok because the rack had been reconditioned!
Sorry to hear that mate.
Chin up though. Just imagine how well it will drive when you get it sorted. You'll be grinning from ear to ear

Every PAS car I've ever MOTed came back with a result sheet saying PAS = N/A. I'd always assumed they couldn't be arsed to check it as it's not exactly stealth technology is it? Actually I lie, I had an X1/9 which came back saying PAS = PASS which made me chuckle a bit.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

It's passed
Second time lucky.
I replaced the rack, I'm getting pretty nifty at that now, and this time everything was fine.
PAS makes a massive difference it's now really easy to manouvre at low speed and the high speed feel is just fine (as far as I could test on the way home).
Everybody should have PAS!
So now all I have to do is wait until 1st May to tax it, it's almost killing me.
The only outstanding problem is I need to get the tracking done, I've asked three local garages but none of them have the necessary data for a Tasmin.
Does anybody know what the tracking settings should be in degrees? The track and toe in in mm is no good apparently
