Want one in my Wedge. Possible or not? Been told it's a no go, but it's dimensions are smaller than the RV8, so I can't see why not.

Does RT racing not run one in the Thorpedo ? Or is that a Tuscan chassis with Tasmin body ?

I'm sure if you put your mind to it anything would fit.

Saw a Beatle with a helicoptor jet engine in the rear the other day in a publication

PH member jellison www.pistonheads.com/members/showProfile.asp?memberId=7660 is the man to talk to about LS6 conversions!

Personally, I'd prefer to have a tuned RV8 in the wedge - V8 Developments are now running them up to 5.3 litres

I've had a wedge here and also ls1-7 engines. It would be a squeeze, mainly across the heads. This is where the lsx is dimensionally larger then the rover. Lsx is appx 25" iirc across the heads so you'd need a wider engine bay then that. Wedge exhaust headers are very close to the chassis tubes so this could be the problem area.

For the Thorpedo to be eligable to race it has to use a block that was fitted to a car by TVR. TVR fitted a chevy block to the White Elephant and this is what makes the Thorpedo OK to race. (Great lateral thinking by RT.) Sadly it's an earlier block than the LS range.

Hi Mike. I've thought about this also as I'm sure you've guessed. The Wedge is indeed very tight and the headers are usually dented to fit for the RV8 installation. The only way I wondered whether it will fit is if you try to utilise the lower height and mount it lower. Could that be a way forward? And maybe an inch forward as it is shorter? J

Hi JR,

Possibly but I'd want to keep the drive train running in the same position.

If you can give me an exact width measurement of the chassis rails taken from the height above crank centreline I'll get a similar measurement from an chevy engine I have here

AFAIK the White Elephant had Holden power. It certainly is lateral thinking to use a sister company's engine (GM owns Chevy and Holden), even if the Holden was in some way derived from a Chevy engine or just badge engineering.

Those were the old regs for the tvrcc challenge... the current series isnt quite as strict so it no longer has to be a tvr derived engine...
