Battery whilst on holiday

I've been told that I'm best to disconnect the battery whilst I'm on holdiay.

Is there any problems in doing this, presumably there will be no problem with the imobiliser?

Presume you just disconnect negative then postive and thats it?

you only need disconnect the Negative to stop any drain on the Battery.

If you're only away for a few weeks and the battery goes down in that time you either have a duff battery or some fault in the car which draws a high current. Mine has an immobiliser and in the past has started perfectly well after a couple of months lay up! If you just want to be sure I don't think immobilisers have a problem with power loss but you need to check this out officially with the manufacturer! Alternatively some sort of trickle charger arrangement or a normal charger on a timer so it comes on for half an hour each day will do the trick without risking overcharging.

I bought one of those battery trickly chargers (Optimate) - you just leave it connected all the time.

Brilliant.

Costs about £30

That's what I have on the WSV to disable the main battery so I can run lights, water pumps etc off the other 2 batts and still be able to start in the morning. Can't seem to fit 3 batts and 2 alternators on the Wedge though

so silly question of the night for all you thinkers out there

If I run my invertor from my battery and then plug in a 240v charger to the invertor and use this to then charge the battery , how long would it last before it all went bang or fizzle
