Split hood through hamfisted shenanigans.....any ideas??

Chaps.
I have managed to put a split in the rear of the hood to the right of the perspex window in the material..... The hood isn't rotten, and other than this is in good nick apart from the lining on the rear crumbling a bit.

What I need to do is to put some sort of a patch on the interior stuck on with contact adhesive to re-stick it. This shouldn't cause a problem as it hasn't split through being rotten....it's about 4" long.....

Sorry to hear about your tear but fiddling about at that time of day Mike I think its a classic case of being "overtired".

I never had the roof up in the S - even at 0230 in the morning in the snow returning from a late shift so I doubt if it will ever be up, but it's the principle.

Gaffa tape or Duck tape stuck on the inside would do the trick - and it holds up against rain pretty well too.

Halfrauds used to do a repair kit for soft-tops. Never tried it myself but have tried some of their other repair kits with great success.

I've had a strip of duct tape on an exposed part of my Rover for a couple of years (sounds rude ), and still resolutely adhering - highly recommended. You can get it in black or normal silver at B & Q.

Mike, if worst comes to worst you could put some black tape on the outside, and just put a matching bit the other side to make it look like it's 'standard' . At least it will keep the water out while you sort out something more permanent. The duct tape is definately water proof, which is why it was 'nicknamed 'duck' tape of course.

Actually it is DUCT tape for use when installing ducting, Duck tape is a misnomer generally used by people who have misheard or misunderstood what someone else has said
