Where is the best place to sell a wedge?

Any opinions/experiences? PH, Ebay or Trader?

Oh, and did you allow a test drive? Just worrying about being sent into a hedge/wall by someone with little experience of RWD and lots of torque.

Thinking of straying to the dark side and trying a chim/griff.

When I sold my wedges in the past I found the best response was through the Autotrader magazine (not the website).

Living in East Lancashire I always pay extra to have the advert put in the Yorkshire copy as well. Strangely enough I've always had the most genuine interest from that area. Although being Yorkshiremen the tight buggers drive a hard bargain! (yes I know you're from Huddersfield )

Put it in the Pistonheads classifieds too of course, I bought my last wedge through them, but in my experience you seem to get loads of email enquiries ("can you send me a picture of the windscreen wiper?" etc.), and end up involved in lengthy correspondence, but few genuine buyers.

Above all don't try and rush it or lose heart. It's the right time of year to sell but as an enthusiasts car it takes time to find your buyer.

Personally I wouldn't. They are only going to be third party insured for your car unless they've specifically notified their ins. co. with the correct details, or they have a proper trader's policy.

As far as test drives go, I generally take them for a spin to prove everything's hunky-dory. Except that last time I did it, I broke the engine (Esprit ).

Ha ha, I know what you mean!
The gearbox went on one of mine on a test drive (suffice to say they didn't buy it ).

When buying I've obtained cover for a test drive in the past. If you're serious about purchasing it's not a lot to ask. However I have let the odd person have a quick go on a very quiet/safe bit of road - it works wonders for getting the sale.
It's often a judgement call.

Wedge prices seem down by 1k on all models than this time last year... anyone got any ideas why?

I know, look at PH, theres quite a few 350s for sale around the £2500 to 4000 mark.

I know theres limited demand, and I've not had the experience of trying to sell one yet, but thats too cheap imho. Its not going to help pricing for any of the models in the long term.

Mind you check out the Chims! I reckon they have dropped £2-3k if not more in the last year!.. is it the petrol prices? or that TVR died recently?... bemused
