Right,

Knocked the corner on my Wedge.......repaired it with the right stuff, filled it, primed it (with expensive filler primer, flatted it & sprayed it...........base coate and laquer went on beatifull. Then I left her over the weekend to cure (this weekend was nice and warm - job not rushed) Went in today, it looked like that it only needed a quick flat/buff so I flatted with 1500 & 2000 then buffed her................oh shit ! ! !

After having a brew I noticed lines beneath the paintwork, to the touch the lines were high spots - so I sat down & had another brew (almost went to the pub) & had a walk round thinking why I had lines below the paint & sulked a bit more.

I have had a few metal classics in my time, but this is the first plastic motor I have owned & nhave never had any problems like this before -- what have done wrong, have I missed something or what ?????????????

Thanks,
Smithy

Try usung G4 rubbing/finishing compound. Keep the polishing mop damp and watch out for splatter. It goes everywhere if you're not carefull. This is the finish on the S2 I got after using it

Halfords do a simular compound but I found it too harsh

When did you do the damage ?

As it does take a while sometime for the rest of the stress cracks to surface

I think that if you are to hasty in repairing damage you will not have given time for the rest of the cracks / crazing to appear.

Fiberglass is a nightmare to deal with as far as I'm concerned, sorted out some cracks last year and sprayed the front end only for the cracks to reappear in a few months. So now going through the same process again, only have cut a lot deeper and used fibreglass gell and then polyester filler to finish. Now also spraying the whole car to get a decent match.

Just hope the cracks don't reappear

Steve ( Gandalph) may be able to provide more details on fibreglass repairs as he is some what of an expert I believe

(works with boats) so post some picces of damage and repair and maybe more advice cometh your way

Also was the expensive filler primer a 2 pack type in a can ? As then if you used celloluse base coat you can get a reaction with what looks lines lines on the edges where the celloluse does not like going onto the 2 pack.

Trick there is apparently to spray a couple of very light coats with 30 min interval, then leave for a couple of hours, lightly flatten with 1500, then sparay a couple coats of basecoat as normal with 15 min intervals between coats.

Well that's what happened with me and the way a paint manufacture explained in getting round it - worked as well just the whole colour came out wrong and hence now going to spray the lot

We can see from your profile that you have a crack problem.
