Black 350i E679GTF - seen it ?

I used to own a 350i black reg E679GTF. Is it still going strong ? I now have a Griff but still think the sound of the 350i is glorious !

You will probably remember it was not a standard 350i!.

Mark, Thats great news. I had so much fun in that car ! I was the 2nd owner, the previous owner had it for 4 years and ran it as his comany car. It had high milage (110k) when I bought it but very solid.

I did a few track days etc and sold it to my friend, Neil Porter. Neil put in the bigger engine, stainless steel exhaust, polybushed, etc. Neil now has a Griff.

It never let me down, never failed to impress and was always and "event" when I drove it.

Hello Simon, yes according to my records first owner Mr Stopford (paid £17,950 in 1988) seemed to use it as a regular runner and had a mobile phone installed from what I can see. God knows how he managed to hear anyone when it rang!

Good to hear from a previous keeper. You last had it 12 years ago from what I can see and then Mr Porter lavished lots of £££ on it which is probably why its still going so strong today!

I've never tried it on a track myself so would be interested to know how the car performed compared to other machinery.

if you dont mind me asking mark, how many miles has your wedge done now then??? If 12 years ago it had 110k, must have a few now

Always interesting to see how long cars last if they are looked after! I sold my last car, clio 16v with 137000 and it was still going so so well. Much better than most i ever went in with less than half the mileage!

No problem. Its had a lazy life recently so now is around 130k. However, its had just about everything replaced over the years and a new engine/gearbox only about 12/13k ago. Total service bills since new now add up to well over £20K.

When you think how it goes for an 18 yr old motor its pretty amazing really. Can't see many mondeos or vectras living that long.

Was it you I met at a very wet Back Home a few years back? If I remember the drivers window mech had failed, and you arrived with a bit of timber jammed in the door to keep the window shut!

Don't tempt me with comments about it being for sale - I cannot afford the Griff and a Wedge (in all meanings - not enough time, money or garage space....).

Don't sell unless it is to get another TVR - you will miss the grin-factor!

I don't think it was me TVR-Nut, but could be previous owner I bought it off maybe, as I found a window problem in the first few weeks in ownership that I had to fix. I don't really want to part with the car but want the experience of something different. However a Griff, Chim are first on my list so is likely I will stay in a TVR. I need something raw and raucous after a week at work and theres nothing much else that fits that bill for the budget.
