Wedge is back!

I've got it back from the TVR centre. It's had a service, levels checked, driveshaft and ujs greased, fuel line replaced, new rear discs and pads (and caliper) and handbrake pads, engine cooling fan now works as it should, oil gauge now works, drivers door can be opened from the outside and wheel bearings have been adjusted so the bump steer is no where near as bad as it was. The airflow meter needs replacing as the previous owner bodged it to pass the MOT and they're seeing if they can source a second hand one tommorow, they've even offered to fit it for free as it's a simple job which is nice. Even though it's running rich because of the airflow meter (and cuts out when idling) the difference is already noticeable, it feels so much better! I took it out tonight with the roof down, even the missus loves it now! It wasn't cheap to get that little lot done but well worth it, I'm pretty chuffed with the car now and have a lot more confidence when driving it

Oh, one other thing. Is the air flow motor a standard rover part?

stick with it borat it just keeps getting better. mine was also running rich when i got it which was diagnosed as faulty air flow meter but just investigating myself using info from THE WEDGE PAGES i found a faulty auxilary air valve and the vacuum pipe from the plenum to the fuel regulator was not connected this leads to fuel being sucked out of the injectors on tick over or overrun and will wash oil off the bores so worth a quick look.by the way i'm not questioning the ability of your mechanic he probably knows all this anyway. if you do feel like learning a bit more about these cars THE WEDGE PAGES is a great site , increadably detailed.

I'm glad the car is living up to expectations Chris.

Though I have a replacement car now, sometimes I think there is still a ghost of a red one in the garage.

Though you could adjust the flapper airflow meter.

There is adjustment on the co external mixture screw but there is also the internal mechanicm that can be adjusted..

Apparantly there wasn't a mixture screw! The previous guy had just pushed a piece of rubber in there. They've performed a temporary fix but parts are missing from the airflow valve so it will need to be replaced. I just hope I/they can find one second hand as new they cost around £300!

Shame I didn't get the wedge back for last weeks southern meet rev! Hopefully we can organise something else this summer because it would be great to meet up with you guys!

There are two for sale on eBay around the £25 mark. There is an adjustment on the internals as well as the external bypass, but you need either a rolling road or a lot of patience to set it up correctly. Even then it may be more than adjustment needed. It could be a sticky spindle, or a host of electrical gremlins. I'd put a replacement in.

My wedge is an '88 350i so I presume it's the same as the range rover 3.5 efi part.
