350i Economy

No I know I didn't by the beastie for it's environmental benefits, but the now I've got a working Odometer the Fuel consumption seems a little excessive 16mpg
I know it all depends on driving style and type of journey (Plus yes I did eat all the pies!), but what do you other guys with 350i's get ?

Perhaps it needs tuning a little

Only three quarters of that around the track but double that cruising.

32 MPG Cruzing? I get nowhere near that....

My last 20 Quid (optimax admitidly) only did 65 miles

at about £1 a litre, thats 4.55 a gallon (if my litres/gallons serves me right) so about 5.5 gallons (rough estimate!)

The highest that I calculated was higher than that, just, and was a week's average cruising around Scotland with the TVRCC although that may say more about them, lol

Economy figures from the handbook say between 22 - 28mpg depending if its urban or on a run. I ve never checked mine though, just keep filling it up when it needs it!

Could be the fact that I fill it @ Meadowhell, and then go up and down the lower deck of the Tinsley viaduct in 3rd

In the old 350
Averaged over two weeks of driving back and for to work (28 mile round trip).
Driving steady except for giving it the beans through the Bryn-Glas Tunell I returned 29 MPG

In the SEAC

You don't wanna know......... just done a rough calculation of about 12 MPG

So true.
Whan I had the 3.5 lump, £20 of juice would do me about 80 miles.
Now I have the 4.5 lump, £20 will get me about 65 miles.

God knows what this works out at in terms of mpg, but the wedge is just a weekend toy and for the smile it puts on my face, I think its a bargain.

That was a particularly bad one...but little journeys and driving through town in second gear to make lots of noise and pops and bangs on the over run, guess thats where it all goes!

Oh well..its only money! I look at it that the money i dont spend on smoking goes on fuel...although thats a lots of fags!

I used to cruise at 85 on a commute and returned 26mpg. I could get about 280 miles out of a tank. In those days I never knew about the top-down extra drag factor, so I didn't pay attention to whether the mpg was worse. I suspect you could get 28mpg with the top up at around 80 mph, and no rising rate regulators!

I hear the fixed-heads are more economical.....
