Window question

Quick question on windows,

Is the glass supposed to be attached to the runner that raises and lowers the window ?

I can see that it's supposed to be in the rubber channel sandwiched betweem the metal plates. But can it be glued to the rubber (silcone sealant ?) or does the window need to move foward / backwards in the channel ?

Only ask as my window is currently on the bottom of the door and the rain was coming in Mind you the roof was still down

Hi Paul,

Yes, the glass should be in a rubber section which is clamped in the window guide. I've just rreplaced mine on the drivers side.
Part no. IRS 0315-4.75 N from COH Baines www.coh-baines.co.uk/ only £2.33 a metre.

The glass doesn't/shouldn't move in the channel. I used Sikaflex on both the rubber and the glass when I fitted the new stuff to make sure it stayed put.

You can also use an old bicycle inner tube. The channels themselves rust away and Range Rover ones are the replacement.

I have just no more nails'ed mine in without the rubber.... Seems to have held

Cleaned up the old runner, mastic the old rubber onto runner, leave over night, then mastic the window into the channel, now goes up and down like wot it should Also sprayed some silocne spray on all the channels on both sides so will hopefully last another 16 years
