So THAT's what happens when you turn the fuel pressure up! That and Star Trek undies

Before, I had the thing set so that things happened around 3500rpm. Now the pleasure-zone is 4500-5000, I swear I passed the Millenium Falcon, and I hadn't even got out of 4th.

I really need a more scientific way of setting this thing up than using B&Qs car park to make adjustments and the A*** as the basis for my ar53-dyno

Backed the fuel pressure off again, immediate loss of wookie

Wanna buy a used distributor ?

I'll have to pop over and you can see how the two cars compare.

Off to Croft tomorrow, but nothing planned for Sunday, though there is a TVR meeting at Harewood.

Just have to make the most of the half dozen sunny days we're likely to get this summer.

Oh I know how they'll compare. One'll be a rough old bag of nails, and then there'll be my car

Oh, wait....

Will be trying to get the engine and box back in the Esprit this weekend, in between bouts of carpet-laying and ceiling-painting...

Maybe I can give you a lift with it on Sunday.
Should I go out and buy some of those smart garage overalls, and bring my adjustable spanner?

I once had a Rover VandenPlas EFi with an autobox and a computer. Same engine as a 350 but substantially more weight.

One day with a passenger (DavidY of PH fame) I booted the car and managed to get the computer reading a magnificent 0.7 MPG.

It was probably telling the truth as well.

Many years ago I hired a Chrysler Somethingorother with a 7.2 litre engine to go from Denver to Las Vegas over the Rockies. Overall fuel consumption was just over 9 mpUSG! No wonder they introduced the CAFE requirements!

That's a thought, do any Wedges have the on board computer that was fitted to the higher spec SD1 for calculating MPG, average speed etc?

I'd rather just stick to scaring myself by the driving.......

It's dead simple Ian, honest, you've already got the speedo sensor setup for the cruise control, so you can impress yourself with your average speeds...I'll even include the relevant wiring diagram from the SD1 Haynes manual!!!

Erm... no, I haven't got the speedo sensor, that's why the cruise isn't installed yet.

Wedge has cable-driven speedo, SD1 with trip and/or cruise has electronic speedo. Speed sensor replaces cable drive at gearbox. I need cable AND speed sensor...

Ah, I thought you had via clever use of magnets or something!...Can you not get your speedo gutted and converted to electronic behind the original dial? Or...can you machine a hosing to run along side the cable and house the electronic transducer, geared as required with the cable?

Just some thoughts!!!

If I could get my hands on the transducer I'd at least have a starting point... I was planning some kind of spinning magnet widget but it would need the resultant pulse train to be in a similar format to that from the transducer wrt. frequency, pulse width etc...

Might have a spare transducer knocking about here, the problem is they're notorious for failing, and I'm not sure any of our's still work, I'll try and check but they'll be useless to us cos were changing back axles on the V8 project. But I guess they'll be useful for dry builds?

What rear axle ratio are you running, cos transducers come in different flavours, orange red and black corresponding to the number of teeth to match 3.08:1 3.45:1 3.09:1 SD1 axle ratios.
