Topless Taz Rides again...

Well topless has now gone off for a short holiday, and is in the care of a well known indy.

She should be back out on the track for the rest of the season starting from the Rockingham race....

It will be great to see her back out on the track.

Hopefully she'll have more success than last season, when some young whipersnapper decided Gerards was staight not a right turn

Last time I raced her at Rockingham we came home with a 3rd and a win... the 3rd was despite the dipstick tube comming out of the block and pi$$ing oil everywhere including the tyres !!!

at the end of the season Topless will be comming home for a little more fettling and will be ready for some outings in 07 if anyones interested..


I had hoped to get her to BBWF but I'll be driving the Tuscan up the front at Back home...

Is there an upper age limit

What licence do you need nowadays, is ARDS or RAC or something else ? Can't even remember what I needed when racing the Renault 5 Turbo at grass track venues so must be too old

Does one actually have to race, or is it okay just to go round quite fast while waving to family and friends ?

That's what I usually, do, it's quite easy for me, becasue most family and friends are on the pit wall praying I make the next right hander!!!

no upper age limit, in fact im sure there is a chap with a licence that races regularly who is in his 90's !!!

To compete you need a race national B licence.

to get one you'll need to buy an ards pack £65 get a medical £45-£65 take the ards test £200-400 (depending what dort of day you do, extra instruction etc) then finally send off the 45 quid to get a licence.

A comment about the cost of the medical quoted as £65 by the MSA and others.
If your doctor charges like mine expect to double the medical cost!
The receptionists were debating whether I should pay £100 or £200 (£89 last year). I got off light only £120 not bad for 20 min work. At this rate I'll need a sponsored medical in a few years.

Be good to see Topless in action again, got a lot of practice being towed in it at Snett last year. I hope not to repeat the experience this year in the 'S'

I prefer the line... "your as old as the woman you'd like to feel" I have been married for a while...

in my case its probably about 28 then.... much younger than that and they can be hard work. much older and they are too jaded....

One of my old uni friends who turned up to Combe is training as a GP, give it a couple of years and she's be fully qualified to give you a thorough examination

I did my ARDS on a day organised by Steve Lewis (ex-Tasmin champion), if memory serves it cost £267 and included a morning (two sessions) of tuition, my medical, a bit more tuition in the afternoon and the test itself, oh and a bacon buttie breakfast and soup and sarnies lunch. Given the cost of the individual components it's bloody good value.
