Leak in footwell

My wedge is now almost leak free, expect in heavy rain for a leak in either footwell. The leak seems to be at the very front of the door - probably from where the door hinge is. The water ends up about where your heels are.
It isn't a big problem as it just leaks onto my rubber mats and doesn't go elsewhere, but it would be nice to sort it out. As it happens on both sides I'd have thought it is a common problem, any ideas how to stop it leaking there?

I digress. On mine, there are two cut outs in the bottom door seal. Few inches from the front around two inches long at the bottom and the same to the rear at the bottom. These channel water that run down the seals to the outside and stop them spilling in to the cabin. It means cutting the door seals so its up to you. Have some pics somewhere if you want a look see?

Some photos would be good thanks.
Can't say I'm too worried about cutting the door seals, they can always be replaced if it goes wrong.

Have you got the little flap where the top hinges on the body? Goes between the seal and the door. Helps direct run off to the outside of the seals. I have seen it on some cars folded up out of the way and forgotten.
hmmm not sure - will have a look and take some photos when I have a chance. Can't remember seeing a flap though?

Haven't got around to this yet, but now I've ordered some new mats I should do.
It looks like you've cut out the back/bottom then pushed the rubber into the space?
In the 350 I cut the whole few inches section out leaving the metal gripper and associated moulding. Basically the D part if that makes sense. What they appear to have done hear is cut the bottom of the D out as you say and flattened down the top with glue. Maybe to protect the metal gripper? Works either way. I suppose that what matters is that there is a gap for the water to drop out when the door is shut.

I've seen a flap coming down from between the trimmed hoop and the rear edge of the targa hoop...is this what you mean?
