Unfinished jobs...

The 'n/s dash trim' thread inspired this: anyone apart form me got a list of jobs they intend to do to their cars pre-BBWF?

Mine includes:

Spray and refit rear bumper
Fit new rear light cluster
Replace boot trim
Repair glovebox lid and renew veneer*
Finish fitting cruise control system
Service

*I was thinking of a 'Fablon' type self-adhesive with a hundred coats of shellac to get the depth. However I can't seem to find a burr walnut finish that isn't burr walnut (the real thing). Any ideas?

Well I'd still like to respray the Wedge, as it's currently all grey primer, space for respray is not looking good as we had a building problem

Managed to do my respray outside my house much to the annoyance of one group of neighbours!! Did the job in phases using celly.

Have got to say that I'm very pleased with the final job utilising my experience as an apprentice many moons ago! If you need any help or advice just shout.

Did you have to pick out the dead flies or were you lucky ?

Only a couple but they were plucked out in between coats, the area flatted where necessary and were completely gone with the next coat. I'll get some pics posted once I've finished the polishing phase. Saved a couple of grand in costs mind you - one in the eye of the paintshops that wanted 2.5k for the same job....

8 fit new n/s indicator lamp
9 fit new heater control cable
10 make new glovebox lid and recover then refit
11 fit gaz shocker all round
12 fit polly bushs
13 referb wheels and get new tyres for rear
14 refit hood
15 get header tank made and fit it
16 fit cdl kit COMPLETED 30/06/06
17 fit new door cards
18 polish car
19 mot car
20 tax car
21 road test car
22 fit cd changer COMPLETED 02/07/06
ect
will it be all right on the day?

My Wedge wont be in attendance, but I will be there (unless im at RAF Fairford for the RIAT !!!)

I need however the following doing to my wedge ...

1 Fit new heater control cable (Make heater work again!)
2 Fit new Injectors
3 Have Engine Setup correctly (remap)
4 Fit polly bushs
5 Get header tank made and fit it
6 Polish car (again!)
7 Mot car
8 Tax car
Fit New ICE to Car (footwell speakers, Modify rear speakers)

Yes .. it worked out at about £190 delivered.. and delivery took 4~5 days.

Jesus all i need to do is buy a new tyre, polish the car, and spend 5 mins with a jetwasher to get the brake dust out of the front alloys

1. Fix handbrake. (Needs doing before September 1st when the MOT runs out).
2. Fit bonnet scoop to give plennum more clearence in order to close bonnet. Don't think I will get around to doing this side of wedge fest for fear of not completing and being wedgeless for the big day.

Apart from a good wash and polish, I'M READY!!!

Achievable list:

Fit new 'silver' TVR badge to nose. (original hand painted black!)
Straighten/re-seal front indicators.
Waterproof hood.
Touch in new paint chips.
Polish car.

God knows when i'll get around to it list:

Replace wood veneer.
Replace carpets.
Ideally a new hood with griff struts.
Replace cam, fit MA chip. (67000 on clock now)
Full re-spray

Needed to do the tappets & clean the plugs on the SEAC - just completed the job over the last 2 evenings.. about 3 hours total.

Well finally got the car into the workshop tonight, another day or so doing final sand, primer, then spray middle of week, polish next weekend and then put her all back together again.
Pile of bits in my now carless garage
hood, rear carpet, side panels, rubber trim, lights front and rear , all indicators ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH

If it makes BBWF 06 I will be surprised, may need to tow it up and we can have a finish your car here theme going on
