New full convertable roof

What sort of price are you wanting for it adam? and is it brand fire new and not used? as the on i want replacing is only faded and is watertight

Hi all.

Did they make different roofs + fittings etc.. for different model wedges ?
I have a 1984 280i and the roof is in bad condition - both sections need replacing. Would any wedge roof fit ??

Any advice would be helpful.

The one I have for sale is for a series II but at last BBWF I offered it up to a series I and it looked as though it would fit OK.

If it's in good shape try Renovo to get the colour back and Fabsil to add water-repellance.

Fabsil from camping shops; it's used to waterproof tents. Alternatively Grainger do something similar, and Thompsons do a brick weatherproofer which has been reported on here as a cheap alternative.

Sorry bud tried it all 4 coats of the waterproof gear it changed a little in colour but not what im looking for maybe im asking too much and maybr the expensive option is better than the cheaper option but like i said before all advice is appreciated cheers

Odd; Renovo worked a treat on my car, roof went from charcoal grey to black quite easily.

You need to use the Renovo colour restorer first. Mine went from a very faded blue to a truly dark Blue in one coat. Just a couple of the areas that get creased when folding needed a second coat.

I now use Thomsons to water proof the roof, mostly because i have 4 gallons of the stuf in the garage from an abandoned project

Somewhere between the top of the windscreen and the boot lid is usually best, except whilst driving of course

I will have a centre section, in black, available very soon. The wedge has been declared a total loss www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?t=276540 and I'm just waiting to get it back so I can break it.
It's an 84 and has been in a garage all it's life so the roof is near pristine, has a dark brown inner headlining. Anybody interested?

No probs - I have Renovoed and you get good results. But they aren't concourse standard, for that you need my hood ;^)

I'm going to attempt to recover mine by myself. Bought a replacement from Auto hoods plus there's a DIY guide on an S Series website on how to do the rear section. The centre section is a piece of PxxxS. The rear section can be awkward due to getting the tension and the alignment just right to make it water-tight.

Considering I've just re-sprayed my car, fitting a new hood should be relatively easy!!!

Where's there's a will...there's a way...!!!
