towing a 280i over long distances

has anyone towed a 280i behind a motor home? can the transmission take it or do I hv to put the car on a trailer?

Not sure abourt the Ford tranny, but the Rover one won't take it because the internal oil pump won't be running. One option is just to disconnect and secure the propshaft.
