Is that right?!Yes - I've done the job with engine removal and with it still in place (removed water pump).. but it takes the same amount of time.
For us amateurs - assume 1 day (out) and 1 day back together.
Most garages say around 10 ~ 12 hrs.
Tower View and a few others say it can be done by cutting the bottom part of the chassis out but not heard of anyone doing it..
maybe just Steve Heath ..

Just say no! I've got a couple of aeronautical, mechanical and stress engineers in the family and they about had a fit when I told them of this "method"! I would never buy a car that had had this done to it!

I would agree - the chassis on most wedges is paper thin due to age anyway.. taking the engine out is a good excuse to tidy up bits on the chassis that are not otherwise reachable.
I know Steve Heath has cut his and has a boltable section but unless a lot ot thought is put into this conversion it's unlikely to be as strong..

I checked the magazine website, the issue we all want is not in the shops until Thursday 6th. I can't wait as I had a breif interview about my wedge and should heve a piccy in there too!

Would that be "Train designer Lee S____ (who) had already owned a couple of Spitfires before buying his 1988 350i last year....uprated with 450SE etc etc" Wont spoil the fun ... unless you really cant wait
PS It comes through your door - though hopefully for most of you, your copies wont get dog teeth imprints as mine do - by 1st of the month if you get it online.

Dunno about "most people", but I took one of the mag pub's regular offers to have the mag sent to me while I pay direct debit and get it a bit cheaper than retail price. Not cos I cant be arsed walking to the shops, but cos, unlike "most people", I wont have to wait for it not to actually be in the shop when you want it.

Real doom and gloom merchants IMHO, Once again the media fuels the 'myth' that TVR prices are in free fall 
. (Blackpool rocked as prices plunge p208).
What about the verdict on page 199 only 67/100 - INSURANCE 1/10.
My 350i cost less to insure than an MX5 or an MGF. I reckon the Wedges should rate a 6 at least on Insurance, that'd give em 72, putting them 2nd in the top scorer list.
Whadda ya think folks ?

I aggree. £200 for a years insurance is bugger all. 1/10?
As for the interview I did with them, my words have been twisted a treat
£3500 buys an average wedge? Surely somewhere between poor and average and a good one at about £5 - £5.5?
