Throttle pot

Does anyone have a spare throttle potentiometer for an 88 350i? If not where can I get one? There is one on ebay for a 3.9 Range Rover but the connector in the picture is different.

Whether disconnected or connected my current one seems to make no difference to the running of the car so I presume it's knackered.

Are you sure it's connected back to the ecu? No short, or open circuits or those blasted intermittent contacts?

Ok, I've just been out in the car. Tried something I haven't before. I disconnected the ECU and then reconnected it. The stuttering has completely gone. It fired straight away from cold but idled very low. When warmed up it won't idle at all, it just dies. Tommorow PM I will setup the idle again (too dark now). Hopefully it was just a loose connection (but then again probably not..............)

Some electrical contact cleaner on the ecu plug/socket might help.

I think so but the proper stuff will clean away oxidation and prevent it returning more betterer.

Might also get it from an electrician or plumbing shop

won't do the same job as contact cleaner. cotton bud and vinegar or lemon juice will help a bit.

If anyone has any duff ones lurking in their garages bring them to BBWF with an SAE and a brown drinking voucher and I'll recon them and post them back.

If you have any suspect ones, I'll have my test rig and scope with me, can do a proper test in-system...
