Replaced my wonky UJ(greased all of them up), Adjusted Handbrake cable up.

Now I have a strange deep whurring noise at about 45 mph

Flange bolts are up tight as is the hub nut, does it matter which way round I put the drive shaft back on (I know the splining goes on the outside derrr!!!LOL) I mean which order of rotation it goes onto the flange bolts?? Could the UJS need bedding in, prehaps a bit stiff?? Or the handbrake rubbing???

Or is it just fear of my own workmanship???

Im not that clued up on the rear suspension on the wedges, but it sounds like you may have damaged/disturbed the wheel bearing.

Well, the driveshaft flange bolts are not equally spaced (2 pairs), but as long as they're up tight, it doesn't matter, as it won't go the "wrong" way. The hub nut needs c. 230lb ft. And the wishbone bolts which you should have slackened need to be tightened once the wheel is either on the ground (not easy) or by jacking the hub up to simulate the load. Handbrake pads are so small that I think they would quickly wear if over adjusted, but did you adjust via the large screw on each caliper with the split pin through?. Whichever way, just check they're not binding. Other than that, I can only suggest getting underneath and checking nothing external is rubbing anywhere.

Edited: Just seen Numbnuts reply - a possibility. I've had bearings seperate when removing a driveshaft. Is there any play in the wheel when out of gear and handbrake off?

Wish bone bolts where tightened WITHOUT load on, that must be it!!! no play in the wheel. Hand brake was adjusted by taking the slack in the cable (2 bolts on the rear end of cable) I will re adjust them tomorrow morning before pre-MOT thrash.

Thanks for your help guys.

Best of luck with the MOT matey.
The handbrake calipers are, laughably, self adjusting but dust from the pads often gums up the works. If you're careful you can slacken off the mechanism and let the handbrake exercise the "auto" adjusters. This un-sticks the works if you're lucky. If you want talking through this then email through my profile and I'll give you my mobile number.
