BBW 2006 - Take a bow guys

Paul, Steve,and Michelle absolutely worked their butts off to support this event and with a few others, notably Darren and crew with the parking etc. made this event the resounding success it truly was
The lead up to the weekend had some uncertainty as to wether or not the clash with BH would take its toll - it din't. Not even the lack of traders was that noticeable as we were all kept entertained by the packed itinery throughout the weekend. The quality of the demos and techie talks was outstanding especially Chris and his partner from Centre Gravity (should be a full article on MikeB Tvrwedgepages soon). Their contribution was extremely proffesional and informative,well done Hormone for getting them on board. Phil Lomas and his team were kept busy all day and i think their final tally was 7 screens. I hope everybody was satisfied with the quality of their workmanship and that this has dispelled some of the 'myths' about Wedge glass replacement.Mike from the polishing company as usual put in maximum elbow grease and made some rather tired looking paintwork look like brand new. It was also good to see Ralph Dodds with the TVRCC tent actively trying to attract new members.
Anyway I digress as the purpose of this thread was really to praise the support guys and gal for their hard work. Mikeb and myself were talking about this whilst topping up at a little Chef on the way home and concluded that they must be well out of pocket taking into account the costs of petrol for their support vehicles,generator, tea, coffee, Stella etc etc (also bear in mind that the monies they did collect will be donated to charity) Mikey and I feel that next year the raffle should incur a charge to cover their out of pocket expenses.
Once again - thanks to the support crew and everybody else that chipped in. Roll on BBWF 2007

I for one will have to start staying in more hotels for work, as that's were all the coffee and tea came from

My only problem now is too look for and convert an HGV artic truck into a motor home / support vehicle to put Steve's to shame

Yes, well done to all the organisers.
This was my second Wedge Fest and certainly the best.
Even though there were a few less cars than last year
(due to BH)there was plenty to see and do, and the
new technical talks were excellent.
Well done also to Roger (Tallbloke) for organising the White Horse
and well done to them for the excellent food, real ale and live band.
Certainly more accomadating then the hotel.
Also thanks to the Dutchies, especially their bare cheek and humour
on the World Cup Tug-of-war (won by the English on default I believe)
Once again, credit to all the organisers, and I look forward to next year.

Oh my GOD whilst emptying the van this morning your post got me thinking how much did I spend.
The WSV did 170 miles at 12 mpg so about £80 and with the gennie running most of the time £30
So there goes my beer rations for the next few months
Drinks and bisquits were about £30.
Hopefully Steve's van didn't come as far so not as much.
Next years charity is 'Support you BBWV Support Vehicles'

Exactly our point Paul - Charity begins at home. Don't donate the contributions you got for the tea's etc. It won't be enough but would soften the blow.
ON THE SUBJECT OF THE SUPPORT VEHICLES
I am gobsmacked that the guys are out of pocket. Paul & crew were a lifesaver with the cold drinks etc. Personally I paid for everything but I presume that some didn't!
I wouldn't like to see the way the raffle works to be changed. One car = one ticket, all prizes donated by the 'traders', clean, simple & fair. If you sold tickets to offset the costs of the support vehicle it complicates things & someone somewhere is going to start creating.
For what it's worth my view is that everything should be priced & paid for with costs taken out of the proceeds & the remainder donated to the charity. Lets face it we would pay the earth if we had to trot to the Hotel bar every time, not to mention the hassle.
The support vehicles add professionalism and contribute to the event & I for one feel that expenses should be taken into account before the donation to charity is made this year.

Now there's a thought. I've always shied away from the Bonne Route/Drivestyle type of thing, can't afford them for a start, but what about a Wedge invasion on the Dutch. They make the effort!

Do it the BBW Way FREEEEEEEE! well as free as possible barring accomodation, grub and beer.
I went to the Dutchies TVR event last year in Aalphen an der Rhijn and it was superb. They won't be doing a TVR stand at the oldtimer dag classic car show there this year, but I'll keep in touch with Wim to see what else they are up to. I'd love to take the wedge over. The Hull Rotterdam ferry is not tooooo bad pricewise and we could rendezvous with people taking the Harwich ferry. We should make the effort.
Hi all, this was the first bbwf i have been to and was really impressed,the organisers did a fantastic job, well done to the tallbloke for arranging the evening at the White Horse which was great even better when the Dutch did the tug of War, great food and good band,as Dickeymint said the paintwork on my 350i looked tired but i,ve got to say it was in better nick than his rear end when he mooned at the Dutch,i would also like to say thanks to Mike of the Polishing Company for making such a good job on the wedge, roll on bbwf 2007.

My original thoughts re stands etc. for the 2004 BBWF was that stand holders would pay for their space. Maybe this is being done now? Thus, though I don't know quite what the BBWF support vehicle does (not having seen it - so I'm not criticising it in any way) it would not be necessary for someone to be out of pocket whilst doing something for BBWF.
Similarly we might be able to get sponsorship for the event, or maybe sponsorship for T shirts. Moneys to pay for Wedge outings, BBQ, to set-up a Wedge fund - contributions to deserving Wedgers from the Wedge Fund in fixing their cars - keeping them on the road if they find themselves in a tight spot.
Just an idea or two - after all I didn't go to BBWF 2006.

Seriously though, BBWF ethos is FREEEEEE even for traders that's why we love it. Trust me on this one, I have a cunning plan
