That is my wedge and believe me, I don't want to sell it that cheap. I am hoping that is just gonna be a starting point. I have had it for sale for a while and had very little interest. Those that have been in touch walk way when they find out 'no service history'. It is a buyers market I feel, which sadly reflects the price.
Anyone can say thier car is worth £10000, but will it sell at that. Cars will only sell at what people are prepared to pay.
At the end of the day, there aren't to many potential wedge owners out there.
But someone is going to get a cracking car for whatever price it goes
Edited>>>>>>last time on ebay it had 32 watchers and no bids, guess it was PH members keeping an eye on prices

Pathetic. What happened to 'using your skill and judgement' to decide whether a thing is right? I have over twenty grand's-worth of receipts for work done on my car since 1993 and what does it prove? Zip. I still have to fix things that break (or that I break!), consumables that get consumed etc. etc. It's an old car and like any old car it's going to need looking after. If you haven't the skills (or a large pot of cash), don't buy one; that's my philosophy.
You should keep it, to hell with the expense

Totally agree, it is pathetic, but what can you do when nearly all the magazines etc say--make sure the book is stamped up. Buyers seem to want that as some sort of garentee the car is good. In my book it means zero, other than someone has spent a shed load of dosh. Any car can break, with or wihout a history book.
I bought it without a history, its how it looks, sounds and runs what counts. You can tell a lot about a car by listening to the owner also. I have MoTs going back to '98 so the mileage checks out ok, as far as that means anything.
It's a shame I don't have the money to keep it and do other things as well, but sometimes something has to go

I don't think you really should have mentioned thatit has no 'service' history. With Wedges I think it is less than necessary. Saying that in the way you have done may suggest it has not been well cared for. I'm afraid you may have dug a hole for yourself here, and it may be better for you to withdraw the ad.
Wedge owners tend to look after their cars. Servicing is just going round checking/changing oil, checking certain parameters, brakes, ancillaries, etc. etc..
I would not say that I have had my car 'serviced'; but I have had it titivated and tickled and little things done and fixed here and there, because I like to keep it in trim. I've even had all the chassis bolts tightened from time to time as these can work loose.
When I bought it the car had 2 files that would fill 2 lever arch or box files - but I wouldn't call it a service history.
I wonder if old Bentley 3 Litres or Speed Sixes come with a service history?
'Service history' is yet more guff that journos use to say to us that they know their stuff, and to fill more column inches. Many dealers in fact do sod all when servicing and charge the earth; this has been exposed on many occassions. Trouble is, with 'mainstream' cars, a (dealer's) service history helps to maintain residual values because this con has become accepted (swallowed?).

"Cars will only sell for what people are prepared to pay"
Market your car and prepare it in such a way as to make the prospect want to buy it - and want to pay your price.
Distinct overpricing is a different matter. But seeling cheaply just because a vendor is happy to do that (for their own reasons) does undermine the situation for the rest of us. If someone is, hypothetically speaking, happy and willing to sell a £10,000 car for £6k or so because they want to sell and are not much bothered as to what it goes for, then that is up to them - but it does have a market effect.

I have changed the wording slightly about service history, might help, might not or maybe to late, time will tell.
As we have all seen and commented on, the price of wedges has been declining all year. Maybe because some sell cheap and some just need the money but either way you look at it, the market for these cars is slow and as mentioned, people will only pay the price the history of other sales tells them. I think my car should be worth around 6k, but it would never sell for that so I have to be realistic.
I didn't pay much more than my base starting price 12 months ago, although I have put a lot of TLC into it, but then thats my hobby.
I have seen some very cheap wedges being sold and knew that I would never get what mine is really worth. If only everyone kept the prices up then maybe these cars would sell for more, but in the real world it doesn't work like that.
I am still hoping that it is only a start price and bidding takes it up, but I aint gonna hold my breath

I have recently sold my TVR via Pistonheads and I have found it to be the best way of selling a car to a specific market. The responce I recieved was very good and the first person to view was the first person to buy. I beleive this was down to the price and condition of the vehicle. I am now in the market for my next TVR and the place I will be looking for one is via Pistonheads.
I don't think the prices of Wedges have been FALLING over the past year.
During the last 12 months there have been a number of instances of owners asking for lower prices because that is what they were happy with. The lower ASKING prices over the months has possibly now had an affect on the prices buyers expect to pay.
You have joined the club of those that depress prices by asking a low price for your car in the first place - because you're HAPPY with a lower price.
Your ad is a bit like a dating reply - I'm a real gentleman, and like you I love the outdoors, horse riding, skiing in winter, and sailing in the summer, (it's going sooo well!)......BUT sadly I'm bald, fat, ugly, fart continuously and have gout, and cannot father children. (Great Scott - I'm describing myself!). Please choose me.
In other words - sadly my car doesn't have a full service history, so if you think there might be something wrong with it I won't argue, but I wanna get rid of it quick so I'll let you buy it cheap.
What it should be is - My car is really great, it breaks my heart to sell it, it's got a brand new designer kitchen, chrome and marble bathroom, solid wood floors in every room, an Aga, a lift, and double glazing throughout. The first to see it will want to buy it.

SOLD!
Though I'm not sure about the wooden floors...Ive bought cars with service history and they were F shite when I looked more closely... all my wedges have not had service history!! no problem to me you just need to look hard and sus things out.
I made the fatal mistake once.
Whilst looking round a car I was letting the engine tick over waiting for the fans to kick in an out, they did, great!! After buying the car, when I got home I realised they wouldnt do it again...
then it dawned on me that it was on 5C day and I had left the bonnet up whilst looking (TWAT)
Anyway after a re-cored rad and getting the dick removed from my forehead I was okay again.
So with or without service hsitory... if you dont have your wits about you when you looking at the car... who know's what you will get!

What a funny world you live in sir!
Last year when I sold my S2, again without a service history, I had 7 people get in touch and as soon as they found out it had no service history I never heard from them again. I didn't put in the ad it didn't have one so that was one of the first questions asked. Whichever way you look at it, the majority of buyers prefer a service history, where as some very few, myself included will buy without.
I am not HAPPY to sell at a low price, but instead I am realistic about what things are worth and what they will sell at.
Personally, I keep away from the ads that bull the sale up, If things are that good then why are they selling them
