Remote/central locking

Is it possible to get a remote locking system that doesn't have an alarm? Don't want the hassle of an alarm going off and drains on the battery etc but would love to have remote central locking.

Is it possible to get the boot lock setup remotely? Seem to remember reading the wire to the aerial can be used?

Chris, The 400 had remote locking when I bought it but it was fuackered and linked to the alarm. just removed the lot. Got a kit from ebay for a ford 2 door, KA / Puma, I think £30, all the bits you (need and some you dont) very easy to fit just takes a bit of setting up. locks doors flash indicators, Roberts your mothers brother. Not sure about the boot same motor set up but you would need another fob / channel cus you dont want to open the boot every time you open the doors

As getting the boot to work, forget the above and go for a three or four channel system (with extra buttons on the remote). Only downside being that 3 or 4 channel will be quite a bit more expensive.

If your still stuck, give S.Hogan3 a shout - its what he does for a living (auto sparky) and I'm sure he could sort you something out at the right price?

On the 350 there is a black box under the dash (glove box end) which I think controlls the doors but might be the windows or mirrors. This black box has a lead comming out of it which ends in a small two pin plug. I guess this would plug into an alarm or remote controller box.

Actually - cheers - that's just given me a GREAT idea. I'm hacked off with having to press the boot release while pulling up the boot lid - with the extra weight of the spoiler it just locks itself straight away otherwise. So that's exactly what I'm going to do - link the door solenoids to the boot solenoid (via a diode).

Then I can just go to the back of the car and blip the fob.

This is much more secure because I have left the keys in the ignition before now, after going to the car to open the boot.

These people do remote locking stuff and they publish manuals online too which will help you work out how to do it and how it works!
They also do cruse control if you're into that sort of thing (Wedg1e?)

Installing remote locking is really easy, took me a grand total of two hours, and a £45 kit from our local spares place. I did that just after I painstakingly rekeyed the door locks and ignition lock to the same key - d'oh.

I don't understand, surely the alarm will have enough oomph to twiddle the boot solenoid as well?

Suppose it could - it depends how you wire it up? and if you go fo an additional soleniod and run 2 in tandem and if you want to loose functionality in the button in the door shut...
